Aged three-quarters in stainless steel and one-quarter in oak, the balanced St. Michael-Eppan 2022 Alto Adige Sauvignon Sanct Valentin is redolent of green papaya, tropical fruit, tomato leaf and a hint of struck match, which indicates some minor reduction. Fruit is harvested from gravel soils at a cool 450 to 600 meters above sea level. The wine's consistency is a little thick, and you feel the effects of a warm vintage on the palate more than you do on the bouquet.
