Product Ratings
James Suckling 95pt

Lots of bark, mushroom and forest-flower aromas with crushed cherries. Complex. Medium body with lovely acid tension and a racy and pretty finish. Very fine tannins. Lots of energy here.

Wine Advocate 94pt

The Poggio Antico 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a pretty bouquet with a unique set of aromas that recall dried cherries with hints of rose potpourri or fragrant acacia wood. Those delicate floral notes give lift and energy to the bouquet. The only distraction is the 15% alcohol content. Otherwise, this wine is a good example of a classic vintage. Production is 37,800 bottles.

Wine Enthusiast 95pt

A deeply savory, almost briny nose of balsamic, seaweed, salt, pepper and black sesame draws just enough sweetness from ripe black cherries. The palate brings more incisive notes of blackberry, along with more salt, more pepper and an emergent earthiness, which, along with symbiotic tannins and acid, create a sensation of easy balance.

Wine Spectator 94pt

A blast of pure cherry fruit erupts from the glass, with iron, tobacco and spice notes adding complexity. Lively and balanced, showing a chalky feel to its tannins on the lingering finish.

Decanter 93pt

Crystalline and fragrant on the nose, smells welcoming. Smooth and sleek, lovely cool freshness from the first sip with energy and focus. I love the easy nature to this yet feels so polished at the same time. Feels careful and very approachable to like with touches of wet stone, cool blue fruit and a mineral finish. The acidity gives the tang while the fine tannins settle around the edges. Lovely.

Jeb Dunnuck 93pt

The 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino spent 10-12 months in barrels for maturation. Tasted for a second time at the winery, it displays a jeweled ruby color and is very nicely layered with notes of anise, fresh black cherries, dried lavender, and salted orange. It's energetic and structured on the palate, with all its components coming to life. It’s ripe yet has lovely angular accents with crispy fresh fruit, and it has a clean and balanced finish. This lovely Brunello is going to show at its best over the coming 10-15 years.
