Product Ratings
James Suckling 95pt

A big wine with lots of character. Vivid aromas of leather, sun-baked earth and wild sage, with juicy, deep flavors of roasted cherries, grilled plums and raspberries. The wine has great structure for further aging, too.

Wine Spectator 93pt

Cherry, plum, licorice and tar aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this solidly built red. There are some funky, beguiling truffle and woodsy elements, and the firm tannins put a grip on the heady finish.

Estate

Welcome to Mura Mura, where the beauty and tradition of Piedmont yield wines of exceptional elegance and harmony.

Guido Martinetti and Federico Grom, childhood friends and founders of Gelaterie GROM, bought the land in Costigliole d’Asti in 2008, giving life to Mura Mura farm. Initially the 8-hectare property was almost entirely dedicated to the production of fruit.

In 2011, 2015 and 2018, Martinetti and Grom expanded the estates boundaries. They purchased additional hectares of land, which today includes 30 hectares in Costigliole, of which 10 are mainly planted to Barbera and Grignolino vines. They have also established 4 hectares in the Barbaresco DOCG and a 1 hectare in Serralunga d'Alba, in the Barolo DOCG. Mura Mura is a SQNPI Sustainably certified company, respecting the climatic environmental and cultural character that distinguish the different agricultural areas of the Italian territory.

Tasting notes

The bouquet of aniseed and dark berries of the Barbaresco Faset cleverly flirts with your sense of smell. Afterwards, fine nuances of roses and cherries add great aromatics. This is a wine of great complexity and outstanding acidity which shows a lot of character and class with dominant tannins in the mouth. 100% Nebbiolo

Description

The “Rigore” Faset Barbaresco DOCG is a unique, fine, elegant and consistent Barbaresco that develop specific characteristics determined by the soil in which it grows. The Cru Faset vineyard overlooks the Tanaro river and has soil with more sand than the surrounding marls. This conformation, combined with the climate mitigated by the river waters, gives a complex and finely aromatic wine.
