Product Ratings
James Suckling 93-94pt

A full-bodied red with blackberry and blueberry, vivid acidity and medium tannins. Plenty of energy here. From biodynamically grown grapes. Biodyvin certification.

Wine Advocate 91-93+pt

Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Mazeyres is a little closed to begin, soon unfurling to offer glimpses at boysenberry preserves, chocolate-covered cherries and baked plums scents, plus suggestions of damp soil, black truffles and cast-iron pan. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers mouth-filling black fruit preserves and loads of earthy accents, framed by soft, rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and mineral tinged. A very impressive showing this year from this certified organic and biodynamic vineyard, it should come in as an under-the-radar bargain for Pomerol fans.

James Suckling 93pt

A little steely and mineral with sour cherries and almost a raw meat character to the fruit. Some wild herbs and garrigues, too. Palate is ripe and almost a bit plush, with a fleshy core of dark fruits and a generous, fruit-expressive finish. Tannins are firm and small-grained.

Vinous Media 94pt

The 2020 Mazeyres is a gorgeous wine from Alan Mouiex. Beautifully layered in the glass, the 2020 possesses tremendous density and character. There's plenty of depth, but this is an especially perfumed style, driven in large part by expansive Franc aromatics. The long, persistent finish is quite striking.

Wine Advocate 93pt

The 2020 Mazeyres opens in the glass with aromas of minty berries, plums, petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, it's lively and sapid, with velvety tannins and a charming, perfumed profile. Incorporating a large percentage of Cabernet Franc and defined by sandy soils, this Pomerol estate is farmed organically and biodynamically.
